I just finished reading the many letters regarding the difference of opinion on Measure S for our schools with interest and was particularly taken with the letter from Susan Tellem and could not keep myself from responding.
No wonder she got nasty calls last time she wrote a letter of opposition. I don’t think I have ever read such a mean spirited and self-serving letter in many years. Opposition is one thing but this one goes beyond the pale.
Besides being educated in the public school system, I personally have raised three children in Malibu public schools and we should all consider it a public trust.
I have also personally (alongside hundreds of others) done bake sales, taught classes alongside teachers, washed cars and used my initiative and creativity. My personal opinion is that this kind of attitude has brought us to this point. When state and federal funds are cut, these are the people to whom our politicians are pandering. If you are so concerned that the children of those callers were listening, I would hope that your children do not read the newspaper this week.
