The new Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Mobile DUI Enforcement Vehicle was introduced Friday at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The vehicle, which was funded by district supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, will serve as a command post for DUI checkpoints throughout the communities patrolled by the local sheriff’s station.
The trailer has computers that can connect with law enforcement databases, which will allow officers to complete booking paperwork while out in the field and maximize the efficiency of resources, according to a statement from the sheriff’s station. The enforcement vehicle is also intended to help with screening, sobriety tests and gathering and storing evidence. Additionally, the trailer can be activated as a mobile command post during natural disasters and tactical operations.
