Malibu became a popular stop for young music video enthusiasts, who were performing as extras in a Music Television Video shoot on Winding Way recently.
The MTV shoot ended Friday, but not without some grumbling from locals who found the multi-day ordeal, at a large mansion near Pt. Dume, trying to their patience.
One couple who lives half a mile away from the shoot location, at PCH and Winding Way East, said, “Several weeks ago, the intense light used during night shooting lit up our bedroom until after midnight.”
This same couple did not dignify the sounds as music, instead they said it was “a pounding beat” and that loud cheering began early and continued all day.
They also said school buses, used to transport the extra performers from the Civic Center area, clogged Winding Way East, morning and evening.
Despite the complaints and grumblings those neighbors did not report the disturbances to authorities.
“This is the great Motion Picture/Television industry we are supposed to be depending on,” they said.
“They had permits,” said another neighbor in resignation.
