The City of Malibu this weekend announced a new way to contact city staffers during non-life-threatening emergencies, by calling City Hall at 310.456.CITY (310.456.2489) and entering extension 311.
The 311 extension, nicknamed “One Call to City Hall,” will operate after-hours and on weekends, directing emergency calls to an operator who will in turn relay messages to city staff.
According to the city, the line will “enable people to be part of the solution, so the city can address issues that need immediate attention,” including environmental spills, broken infrastructure or downed trees.
This phone line is not meant to replace a 911 call in cases of immediate danger.
During business hours, a receptionist at City Hall will field all calls.
