For the second year in a row, Point Dume Marine Science School students collected money to support a children’s cause in Africa. This year, students are helping to create a computer lab at Gxhabara Primary School in Maun, Botswana.
PDMSS Student Council presented a check to Pat Cairns, president of Botswana School Project, at a school assembly. According to Cairns, the money will be used to purchase Chromebooks web-based computers. Cairns and her sister are also having the Internet installed at the school.
Last year, students at PDMSS, as well as Juan Cabrillo Elementary School and Malibu High School, collected 10,000 books to send to the school to help create libraries in the northern part of the country.
