The City of Malibu and LA County Public Library continue the popular Malibu Library Speaker Series with former astronaut Dr. Garrett Reisman on Aug. 14.
Attendees will get to hear about Reisman’s experience and view on space exploration, space walks, working in space and reassimilation on Earth.
Reisman has had experiences on three space shuttles, with Endeavor, Discovery and Atlantis.
After his work with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Reisman moved on to serve as the director of space operations with Elon Musk-led SpaceX. According to information shared by the city, the former astronaut is working with NASA to prepare for future SpaceX launches.
In the shared statement, Mayor Rick Mullen stated, “Dr. Reisman will inspire Malibu residents from 8 to 80 years old to dream about exploring the cosmos.”
In the past, the speaker series has featured space engineer B. Gentry Lee, who spoke just after a total solar eclipse took place in September 2017.
RSVPs are required for this event, which will take place at 7 p.m. at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road). Visit malibucity.org/libraryspeakers or call 310.456.6438.
