11:53 p.m. update: Two people were taken by ambulance to a Santa Monica hospital Wednesday evening with injuries after the car they were driving collided with another vehicle and rolled over on Pacific Coast Highway near the intersection of Latigo Canyon Road, sheriff’s officials said. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

Contrary to initial reports, the accident involved only two vehicles rather than four, according to Lt. Thompson of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The vehicles were traveling the same direction when the accident occurred. The two injured passengers were riding in the rear seat of the vehicle that rolled over.

Traffic investigators have yet to declare a definitive cause of the accident, but it appears it was caused when one of the vehicles steered in front of the other, Thompson said.

Four cars were involved in an accident Wednesday evening on sometime around 6 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near Geoffrey’s, according to authorities. Some injuries have been reported and the number two eastbound lane of PCH is currently closed, Sgt. Masson of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said. The lane could remain closed for another 30 to 40 minutes, Masson said.

Masson said fire department and ambulances were en route to the scene.
