The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved water rate increases for five years in Malibu and other areas throughout LA County. According to officials, the rate hikes are to cover increases in wholesale water costs and will be added to other increases being phased in since 2012 to pay for higher operating costs.
2015 rates are estimated to be higher by 8.6 percent in Malibu with additional increases expected throughout the five-year period.
