The documentary “Super Smiley Flash Mob: A Dogumentary,” a film inspired by Malibu shelter dog Smiley, has been honored with the Visionary Award at the Awareness Film Festival, and also won the Regional Competition at Film Festival Flix.

The film features local dog Smiley, who has been traveling across the country promoting the Super Smiley Flash Mob 4 Pet Adoption, “The Happy Campaign.” He and his owner, actress and Malibu local Megan Blake, have been promoting pet adoption from California to New York by performing “flash mobs,” or surprise performances put on by a group of people in a public place. The pair has put on flash mobs with a variety of groups, including New York City’s Mayor’s Alliance for Pets, the cast of the musical “Hairspray” and belly dancers.

Blake serves as the host and pet expert on PBS’ longest running pet series, “Animal Attractions TV.” Additionally, she now hosts “A Super Smiley Adventure” on Pet Life Radio, the world’s largest pet radio network.
