A rock slide near the tunnel of Malibu Canyon Road temporarily shut down traffic in both directions during Monday morning’s holiday commute.
The slide was reported just before 8 a.m. on Monday by Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol. Several huge boulders fell into the southbound lanes of the roadway, forcing some to drive into lanes of oncoming traffic until officials closed down both sides of the road.
The debris was cleared and lanes were reopened by 9 a.m.
