A helicopter rescued two stranded hikers from a rain-soaked cliff in Malibu Creek State Park early Monday morning.
Members of the Malibu Search and Rescue Team responded to a call for help late Sunday night to aid the hikers in the park. Rescue personnel located a 29-year-old man and 31-year-old woman who were stranded on the cliff, but recent rains made it difficult to reach the pair. A Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter was called in to aid the operation, and crews were able to complete a successful rescue by just after midnight.
This is the second time in a week a nighttime rescue has taken place at Malibu Creek State Park. On Jan. 21, two male hikers in their early 20s were rescued by a fire department helicopter after becoming stranded on a cliff in the local park.
