One man has been pronounced dead and another injured after the head-on collision that shut down Pacific Coast Highway at Tuna Canyon for approximately seven hours Tuesday evening. Eriber Lopez of Los Angeles was pronounced dead after being airlifted to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica after he collided head-on with another vehicle at approximately 5 p.m., Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said. The driver of the other vehicle was admitted to the hospital with head and back injuries. Brooks said it appears Lopez, who was traveling east on PCH, veered into the westbound number one lane and collided with the other driver.

Brooks said it also appears Lopez was an unlicensed driver. The accident caused westbound traffic to be re-routed through Topanga Canyon for nearly seven hours.
