Malibu attorney and symphony conductor Gary S. Greene has launched a new symphony orchestra for members of the legal profession, L.A. Lawyers Philharmonic.

Greene, an attorney for 33 years, is a violinist and conductor of the Jr. Philharmonic, the acclaimed young people’s symphony orchestra founded in 1937 by his 94-year-old uncle, Ernst Katz.

The L.A. Lawyers Phil made its debut on Jan. 30 at the Metropolitan News-Enterprise’s “Person of the Year” dinner. It plans to hold regular rehearsals and perform for civic and charitable events. The debut orchestra was composed of 30 judges and attorneys who are advanced musicians, but Greene plans to expand the size to 65. The roster includes Juilliard graduates, professional musicians and hobbyists who are dusting off instruments they played in their youth.

Members of the legal profession who are skilled musicians, especially those who play oboe, bassoon, French horn, trombone, violin, viola, cello, string bass and harp are invited to apply.

More information can be obtained by emailing Conductor@LALawyersPhil.org.
