It has been more than four years since Grant Adamson—a descendant of Malibu’s founding Rindge family—was killed in the Swiss Alps during a hot air balloon ride in August 2013.

According to reports from the time, the balloon crashed into power lines and fell approximately 131 feet. Three years later, the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board released information stating that an “inappropriate flight tactic following a lapse of memory concerning the presence of [a high-voltage power line]” was the cause of the crash.

Adamson’s wife, Terry, and their two daughters escaped the crash with severe injuries.

Now, according to City News Service, the family is suing Anthem Blue Cross for allegedly refusing to pay for all medical costs due to injuries from the accident. They filed the lawsuit on Friday, Dec. 30, with Los Angeles Superior Court.

The family is seeking $181,175 based on “allegations that include breach of contract, intentional misrepresentation, fraud and false promise,” according to the news article.

Anthem Blue Cross has been in the news regularly over the past few years with problems including misleading policyholders to resolving data breach disputes.
