Webster Elementary students from Lori Rose’s fourth grade and Marcia Nix’s second grade classes handed out food at the Malibu Labor Exchange last week Friday. Each month, two classes are chosen to collect food and then distribute it at the Labor Exchange in this year-long program designed to show students how their commitment to service brings about concrete change in their local community. Last year, Webster was recognized as one of only 11 schools in the state to be named a “Service Learning Leader School.” To win the award, Webster had to demonstrate that every student is involved in high quality service learning experiences that are connected to the curriculum and supported by the whole school community.
