[Update: 03/24] Coogie’s will be temporarily closed for renovations at the end of April, but owners plan to reopen the restaurant in the same location, according to reports by City of Malibu spokesperson Matt Myerhoff and Councilmember Laura Rosenthal.
Coogie’s Beach Cafe will be moving locations at the end of next month, according to notifications that the popular coupon website Groupon sent out today to those who had purchased discounts for the local eatery.
“We have some bad news: Coogie’s Beach Cafe will be moving at the end of April,” reads the message Groupon Customer Support sent to those who had already purchased a digital coupon.
The message also mentions April 20 as the last date discounts will be active, suggesting that Coogie’s last day before “closing to move,” in the words of the message, will be the third week of April.
Coogie’s management did not immediately respond to requests for further details.
A popular dining spot in Malibu since it first opened in 1997, Coogie’s sits in the Malibu Colony Plaza shopping center, close to where clothing store Theodore’s Beach recently announced its permanent closure.
Groupon is a website that offers discounts and gift certificates to restaurants, bars, museums, spas and other services locally and nationally, as well as offering deals on goods to purchase online.
