It was the formula for fun as red carpet darlings like Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz joined Emma Roberts, Mandy Moore and Brittany Snow for a look at Rag & Bone’s flagship store. A fashionable pit stop for Hollywood celebs and big wigs like Vogue’s Anna Wintour, the popular brand toasted the 9,000-square-foot opening of its west coast outlet.
Reese has been a busy girl in recent months. The Oscar-winning “Walk the Line” actress has four movies in the making, including “Devil’s Knot” and “Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus.” “Something About Mary” star Cameron has two projects on tap.
The party spot was swinging with the brand’s signature art deco interior design and showcased the current collection for guests, with lots of opportunities to browse and buy.
Roll ’em
It’s the holiday movie season and the lineup is impressive indeed. After a pitch perfect tour, which included stops at the Hollywood Bowl, Malibu’s Barbra Streisand is taking on a funny, new film role in “The Guilt Trip.” It’s a mother-son road trip comedy, with Babs starring alongside Seth Rogen, and was inspired by a true story. Check it out as the bossy but endearing Mom travels with her son from New Jersey to Las Vegas and see what happens. The flick is due out next week.
Also in December, if you’re a fan of Hollywood legends Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin, you won’t want to miss “Stand Up Guys.” Pacino is a retired gangster who is released from the big house after serving almost three decades. Before you can say “Goodfellas,” he is reunited with two of his old-school buddies and trouble follows.
Then, 50-year-old Tom Cruise shows he’s still up to the job in the action-thriller “Jack Reacher.” The plot involves a sniper shooting and a military investigator who is in for a big surprise when he looks into what should be an open and shut case.
Coming up soon is “The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey.” Richard Armitage endured hours of heavy makeup application in order to play Thorin in the “Lord of the Rings” prequel.
This month, there are more laughs on tap. If you liked 2007’s “Knocked Up,” watch Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd take on the challenges of going gray and raising a family in “This is 40.”
Anne Hathaway has a whole new look when the Broadway blockbuster “Les Miserables” comes to the silver screen. The story takes place in 19th century France and tells the tale of an ex-convict who seeks a new life. The film also stars Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman. It comes out on Christmas Day. So watch for plenty of action, intrigue and family fun. Happy Holidays!
