Water problems

The following is a comment from malibutimes.com in response to the story titled “Workshop aims at ‘Ocean Friendly Gardens’”

In Las Vegas, Nev. the Southern Nevada Water Authority did the same cash for grass program to save water. However, the water authority saw a big drop in income and had to raise the price of services. Secondly, plastic sheets were placed where grass was removed. The plastic sheets were covered with rock or whatever. The problem with that was trees died because they were not able to breathe. In our association 98 trees had to be replaced. We paid for it. Residents are now told to go back to grass and/or pull up the plastic. Learn from our mistakes. If you want to see the troubles southern Nevada is having with the water authority, check out our local papers.
