Five people were arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in Malibu Friday night. The checkpoint was set up on Pacific Coast Highway at John Tyler Drive and took place from 8:30 p.m. Friday night until 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
A total of 1,368 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and seven drivers were given sobriety tests. Officers issued 12 driver’s license citations and arrested two people for incidents not involving driving under the influence. Additionally, seven vehicles were impounded.
The checkpoint was conducted by the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station with a group of deputies, reserves and disaster communication volunteers. It was funded by an Office of Traffic Safety grant for the City of Malibu.
