Former Pepperdine University volleyball player Rod Wilde was the head coach the United States girls volleyball team that won a silver medal at the inaugural 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games. Samantha Cash, who was the captain of the squad and is committed to play at Pepperdine beginning in 2011, proudly wears her silver medal and holds her figurine of Merly, the mascot of the Youth Olympic Games. “It was an amazing experience representing my country,” Cash said. “Obviously, I wish the result would have been different, but I am very proud about how hard everyone played.”
