Grace Slick and her daughter, China, recently gave Malibu actor Declan Joyce two guitars signed by the members of U2. He sent the guitars to London, where they will be auctioned off to raise money and support for suicide prevention charities in Ireland, Aware and Samaritans.
Joyce actively supports suicide prevention causes. He became involved in the issue after losing a friend in Ireland to suicide in 2000.
“I’m trying to lend my support for Ireland,” Joyce said. “One million people die to suicide each year. They say nearly half of those who suffer never went for help. By having celebrity support, my hope is that the stigma around people who suffer from depression and are at risk for suicide will have no shame in reaching out for help and getting it.”
