XOF1 driver and builder Marcelo da Luz showcased the solar car to 400 Webster students on the school's playground last week.

Four hundred Webster Elementary School students witnessed the arrival of XOF1, a solar car that last year set the new world record for distance, on the school’s playground last week.

XOF1 driver and builder Marcelo da Luz explained to students how the car is a positive contribution toward a cleaner future, and how he hopes it will inspire and motivate people from all over the world to find a balanced, co-existence with nature.

Da Luz’s journey to set the world distance record for a solar car began on June 12, 2008 in Buffalo, NY. On July 27, 46 days later, XOF1 reached the Arctic Circle.

Upon its arrival in Los Angeles on March 6, XOF1 has driven more than 12,500 miles using only sunshine as fuel.
