Growng up with autism, I have spent my whole life trying to fit in. As a child, my focus was fitting in with friends and at school, not to mention boys and dating. I have experienced a life where my challenges included living in a place unknown to most human beings – deep within my mind.
Authentic images and sounds of this place are fresh in my mind. However, with almost constant concentration and a lifetime of developing gimmicks and techniques too many to mention, I was victorious and, yes, I found ways to fit in with friends and real life.
My prayer as an adult was to find a place I could feel as though I fit in, with neighbors and activities and environment. Thank you, Malibu. I fit in.
