[UPDATE: 12:20 p.m.] Pacific Coast Highway was closed through the night near Latigo Canyon as deputies assessed a collision involving two vehicles, according to Lt. Seetoo with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s station.
Early reports included a potential fatality from the accident, but sheriff’s report both victims were transported to local hospitals and injuries are still being assessed.
“Initially it came out as a possible fatality,” Seetoo said. “The Honda Civic was traveling eastbound and went across the lines into the westbound lanes and subsequently struck another vehicle.”
Before 7 a.m., both lanes of PCH were reopened.
A vehicle drove into the other side of the road on the 27000 block of Pacific Coast Highway and collided with another vehicle around 9:40 p.m., according to Sgt. Lecrivain with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s station.
“One driver from the correct side was transported to the hospital with chest pains,” Lecrivain said.
Deputies are currently working to extricate the driver from the vehicle that careened into oncoming traffic, according to Lecrivain.
“Preliminary reports that it was a fatal collision,” Sgt. Sheridan wrote in a PCH Taskforce email. “Both directions of PCH are closed until further notice.”
The story is developing.
