School district separation is on the agenda for this week’s Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 19.
Activists for an independent Malibu school district plan to ask the board for a vote on separation, according to a press release from Advocates for Malibu Public Schools (AMPS). Over 4,500 residents of Malibu and its surrounding areas have signed a petition in favor of an independent district.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an agenda time of 7:30 p.m. at the SMMUSD offices located at 1651 16th Street in Santa Monica.
