The Malibu City Planning Commission meeting last week left many questions unanswered.
Why would the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and Mr. Edmiston go to such trouble for 29 campsites unless this is the opening gambit for large numbers of sites in the future?
Where was the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s opinion in all this?
Why is Charmlee Park being treated as if it belonged to the conservancy instead of the City?
Who will ensure that there are sworn rangers-not simply resident maintenance men or retired people at each site?
How is the city going to handle the year-round traffic when our infrastructure is already at a stand still during summer months and, there are limited escape routes in an emergency?
The city needs to show some vision and some backbone; 880 homes have burned here. Fire is our LNG and the threat is real-today.
