Volleyball player Parker Smith is a junior at Malibu High School. Smith currently leads the state of California in aces with 34, and leads the Sharks in digs (58) as well as kills (61).
Smith has been playing volleyball for five years, and started his love for the game after seeing an AVP Pro Beach Volleyball match. Smith said he admired the overall strength and prowess of the athletes participating in the pro contest.
Smith continues to play volleyball because he strives for perfection and he wants to keep getting better at the sport that he loves. The biggest struggle with volleyball Smith has faced is the fact that many have doubted his size and his ability to play at the next level. However, his record proves his skill in the sport.
When Smith is not playing high school volleyball, he trains by playing basketball and beach volleyball, as well as the occasional Crossfit workout. He has hopes to play in college, but he said it is not something he wants to pursue professionally.
His favorite movie is “Hoosiers.”
