California Incline Suggested Detours

Santa Monica’s California Incline, which extends from Pacific Coast Highway to the intersection of Ocean and California avenues, underwent the first of three concrete pours on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The pour rendered the incline reconstruction 35 percent complete and the new concrete now covers the upper one-third of the bridge.

The California Incline Replacement Project began on Apr. 20, 2015, replacing the historic roadway in order to meet current seismic standards. Along with a three-lane roadway and reinforced concrete slab, the new incline will include a wider sidewalk and bike lanes. The project is expected to take 12 to 13 months.
