Progress, at last

Other than saying that Malibu City Attorney Christi Hogin did a fine job (but I certainly don’t agree that she outmaneuvered anyone), I disagree with my friend Dr. Mark Gold’s overall message as he makes it look like the environment was the loser. Only the lawyers who would be busy for 20 years and those who just like to sue were the losers. All those who want clean water are the winners and those who have gotten ill in the water are the winners. The environment was the winner!

Now things will happen that haven’t in 40 years of rhetoric slinging, neighbors fighting and thousands blaming thousands without any results. May not be all that the toughest wanted immediately, but it is thousands of hours and tens of millions of dollars moving to physically making a positive change, instead of lawsuits, blogs, and threats.

This is a great step forward for the environment. It will be looked back at as a historic day for progress. There were no losers. Kudos to the staffs of City and the Regional Water Board, as well as Malibu’s elected officials and the Water Board’s leadership both at the Regional and State level.
