Fifty-year Malibu resident Patricia “Pat” Ann Kenney passed away Nov. 15 in her home due to natural causes at the age of 88.
Pat was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Denver, Colo., to Stuart and Arla Barsby. She is survived by her son Patrick, granddaughters Fiona Kenney and Claire Lumpkin, and great-grandchildren Lucy and Rae Lumpkin. She is also survived by brothers, James and Robert Barsby, as well as many friends throughout Malibu.
Pat was preceded in death by husband William “Bill” Kenney and two sons, John and Andrew.
Her more than 40-year professional career was spent in insurance and she remained active in insurance sales until a few years ago.
Pat was a board member of the Malibu Artifact Tree, and always wanted to serve the poor and homeless in her community and beyond.
“Those that knew her remember her for her generosity and strong spirit,” a loved one said.
Pat and Bill were longtime members of Pepperdine University’s Church of Christ. Pat enjoyed hobbies including garden clubs, cooking, raising orchids and dog showing.
A memorial service will be held at Pepperdine University’s Stauffer Chapel on Dec. 7 at 3:30 pm, followed by a reception in the Hahn Fireside Room.
