Malibu under high surf advisory through Saturday

A high surf advisory went into effect early Thursday morning for Malibu and the surrounding coastal areas. The warning is scheduled to last until 10 p.m. on Saturday. 

Along with heavy rains, waves of 6 to 12 feet are expected to hit Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, according to the National Weather Service. But some waves could get as high as 15 feet in the stormiest areas. 

High surf conditions will peak on Saturday, according to a release from the NWS. Malibuites should also expect a wet downpour through the weekend, with a 60 percent chance of rain on Thursday, an 80 percent likelihood of showers on Friday and a 60 percent chance on Saturday. Temperatures should remain in the mid-60s during the day and the mid-50s at night.
