First baby for former Malibu resident

Longtime Malibu resident Alison Gallwey Wishard Guerra, one time student body president at Malibu Park Junior High School, and her husband Eduardo Guerra welcomed their first child, Sofia Alexandra Wishard Guerra, just before Thanksgiving in San Diego. The family lives in Solana Beach.

Wishard Guerra is an assistant professor at UC San Diego in early childhood education and development. She received her doctorate from the UCLA Graduate School of Educatoin in 2005. Her husband and his brother have expanded their recent start-up company from Southern Calfifornia to several cities in California and Arizona, and will soon be in Texas.

Wishard Guerra’s mother, Mary Wishard, was the first and sole teacher in beginning the Colin McEwen High School in Malibu. Her father, Bill Wishard, served for three terms as president of the Malibu West Homeowners Association, as a volunteer with the Malibu Coast Vision team and most recently as immediate past president of the Malibu Rotary Club. Her Uncle Timothy Gallwey is a well-known local author of best-selling tennis, golf, skiing and management books.
