Jill Simons, a 19-year Malibu artist and resident, recently reunited with artist Jacklyn Marcus, an old high school friend, to create rock, stone and boulder sculptures that will be shown at the Tracy Park Gallery in Malibu from June 12 to July 9.
In this exhibition, entitled “Stoned,” the artists seek to establish an interplay between color and texture and state they are inspired by the organic beauty of the stones and boulders, and have created a way to bring fantasy, warmth and whimsy to the natural rocks.
“The sculptures evoke an irresistible urge to be touched and entices one to feel the natural crevasses and shapes,” the artists said in a press release.
The Tracy Park Gallery is located in Malibu Country Mart, 3835 Cross Creek Road.
