Solange Lemonnier

Longtime Malibu resident Solange Lemonnier died from Parkinson’s disease complications on April 18. She was 85 years old.

Born in France, Lemonnier immigrated to the United States as a teenager. She met and married her husband, Pierre, in New York City and moved across the country, where she settled in southern California, and eventually Malibu. They opened a small glass company in the early 1970s, which became the Malibu Glass & Mirror company. Pierre passed away in 1980, but Solange continued to work in the business until her health began declining in more recent years.

“She enjoyed travel, gardening, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family,” a loved one said. “She was small in stature, but had a big personality that left a lasting impression. She was greatly loved and will be missed.”

A mass in Lemonnier’s honor will take place on Monday, May 2, at Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to michaeljfox.org or pdf.org in her name.
