Improvements to the eastbound Heathercliff Road stop will include concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, ADA ramps, signage and striping.

The City of Malibu Public Works Commission discussed last week a plan to make improvements to 11 bus stops along the Pacific Coast Highway.

Improvements include relocating some stops, adding curbs, gutters and concrete sidewalks, adding ADA ramps and improving signage, among others.

The stops are 11 of about 40 along the PCH served by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority bus route 534.

The work is being funded by a “Call for Projects” grant awarded to the city in 2011 by the MTA. Originally, funding would not be made available until 2014, but the MTA recently agreed to advance the funding so the city can now design, permit and construct the new stops, according to a staff report.

“We have our consultant doing the design for it,” said Public Works Director Bob Brager at Wednesday’s meeting. “We already have the funding for it.”

The city is still looking for funding to improve the remaining stops, Brager said.

The following bus stops will be improved:

  • Trancas Canyon Road (Eastbound): signage and striping
  • Morning View Drive (Eastbound): Relocate bus stop, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, ADA ramp, bench pad, signage and striping
