Due to Caltrans construction, the speed limit on Pacific Coast Highway, from Meadows Court to Latigo Canyon Road, has been reduced to 30 m.p.h. As per usual, fines will be doubled in the work zone.
The construction is part of the department’s Escondido Slope Stabilization Project, which officially started construction summer 2017. The construction is to help prevent “landslide related distress and to improve mobility on SR-1,” according to a Caltrans description of the project.
The full construction area is between Via Escondido and Sea Vista, with a goal to stabilize PCH.
The estimated project completion date is fall 2019.
