The Malibu Middle School surf team competed in the Scholastic Surf Series competition in Ventura on March 15. Coached by Dale Rhodes, eighth-grader SJ Murphy won first place in boys shortboard and sixth-grader Griffin Churchill won sixth place in bodyboard.
Other competitors who advanced through their heats were Saxon Rhodes, Betsey Lee, Ben Junger, Novalis Terzani and Spencer Regan.
