The Los Angeles Coroners Office has identified the body of a 67-year-old woman who washed ashore on Carbon Beach Wednesday as Sarah Jane Koster of Camarillo.

Koster’s husband had reported her missing earlier on Wednesday, the coroner’s press information officer said.

The official cause of death has not yet been determined, but the coroner’s office said they are investigating it as an accidental.

A Carbon Beach resident said Koster’s body washed ashore around 4:30 p.m. on the beach right in front of his house on Pacific Coast Highway near Carbon Mesa Road.

According to a CBS news report, Sheriff’s officials say she was wearing a bathing suit when she was found, which indicates that she was in the water voluntarily and probably drowned.

The Los Angeles County Homicide Bureau is investigating her death.
