The Malibu High School baseball team honored its eight seniors before the final game of the season last week. The Sharks earned the victory, defeating Oak Park, 6-0, as senior Andor Kesselman pitched a two-hitter. The seniors enjoyed their final game, knowing it would be the last time they set foot on the Malibu High diamond. “It feels really good,” Matt Cathcart said. “It’s a little bit sad, but I’m glad I could stand with my parents and get the win.”
The victory propelled Malibu to an overall record of 7-19 (4-8 in league), under the guidance of first year head coach Ari Jacobs. Though the Sharks did not earn a playoff bid, it was a fitting way to end the season. “It felt great,” Eric Levine said. “I wish we were going more into playoffs, but it’s still fun.”
