Funny man Sean Hayes takes on a divine role in “An Act of God.”

HEAVEN SENT

Malibu theater lovers have been in Seventh Heaven over this year’s offerings from the Center Theatre Group, especially when they feature big name players like Sean Hayes. Ever since his role in the hit series “Will & Grace,” actor and producer Sean seemed destined for projects that were sent from above. Sean recently took his star power to the Ahmanson Theatre where he played the title role in “An Act of God.”

The Emmy Award winner just wrapped up a successful stint of the critically acclaimed play where God and his devoted angels answered some of the deepest questions to have plagued mankind since creation.

The 90-minute laugh-out-loud production brought some serious comedy cred to boot. The production came from 13-time Emmy Award winner David Javerbaum, a force behind “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” It was directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello of “Wicked” fame.

Up next at the Ahmanson is “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” The production comes direct from New York with a Tony Award for best musical.

Theater fans will discover the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump in front of the line of eight pesky relatives who stand in his way.

All the while, he has to juggle his mistress, his fiancée and the constant threat of landing behind bars. “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” begins March 22 and runs through May 1.

The season rolls into summer with an all-time favorite “Grey Gardens.” Rachel York and Betty Buckley are set to star in the beloved musical, which will make its Los Angeles debut. Set in East Hampton, New York, “Grey Gardens” tells the story of Big Edie and Little Edie — the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — and their journey from glamorous aristocrats in the 1940s to notorious recluses living in the 1970s in a crumbling house filled with memories and cats. “Grey Gardens” will be the fifth and final production in the Ahmanson Theatre’s 2015-16 season. It kicks off July 6 and runs through Aug. 14.

PRETTY PROPERTY

Oscar-winning pretty woman Julia Roberts has snatched up a $6.84 million Malibu abode in an off-market deal. The home is described as ranch-style and sits on more than an acre of property, situated directly across the street from her longtime pad in Point Dume.

Her newest place was built in 1953 and is said to have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,800-square-feet of living space.

This is not to say that the 48-year-old actress will be missing on movie sets. She has two upcoming films, “Mother’s Day” and “Money Monster,” so don’t expect her acting gigs to go away anytime soon.
