Monthly poetry series Poetry By The Sea is hosting its summer open mic event this Sunday, and Malibu local Bob Curtis is set to kick off the festivities. Curtis is an award-winning designer, director and producer for animation, live action shorts and commercials.
Poetry By The Sea is produced by Ellen Reich, Ellen Cohen and Ann Buxie.
“Though it’s an open mic, we decided to feature one poet from the Santa Monica College Emeritus program this year, and it’s Bob,” event co-host Buxie said. “After Bob, it’s open season.”
After Curtis’ reading, all poets are invited to take the stage. Each will read one poem.
“It’s like a big poetry fest and a great way to enjoy a summer afternoon in a beautiful setting,” event co-producer Reich said.
