The Malibu Woman’s Club recently hosted its annual scholarship luncheon at Duke’s Malibu. Club President Charlotte Ward welcomed the parents of the students, the principals and teachers from the local schools and commended members of the club for their extraordinary efforts to benefit the youth of Malibu.
Eleven seniors received $1,000 scholarships based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community service, employment and general fitness as exemplified in an autobiographical statement or personal essay. Also, 14 fifth-graders received $150 (first place) or $75 (second place) for writing samples they submitted.
