Author and local Claire Fordham visited her favorite bookstore, Bank of Books Malibu, last Saturday afternoon as a guest reader. Fordham read excerpts from her book “Life Lessons for Mia Rose: An Irreverent Guide to Living and Loving Well,” inspired by the birth of her grandchild.
“I was inspired to write the book after the birth of my granddaughter, Mia Rose. She’s four now, and I will give it to her on her 16th birthday. I wanted to share some of the lessons I have learned and for her to know me,” Fordham said.
Fordham’s journey as a writer reawakened her love for life. “I discovered that I am actually living and loving pretty well, and I have much to be grateful for. When I started writing it, I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, that life was such a struggle in some areas,” Fordham shared.
Guests delighted in her wit and touching tales of life while laughter reverberated throughout the Point Dume Plaza courtyard. A Q&A and book signing followed the reading.
Thrilled with the community’s outpour of support, Fordham said, “It meant everything. So many friends showed up to support me and my book. I was deeply touched that they braved PCH and on a Sunday!”
