Polly Stokes Pierson died April 5 peacefully at home with her family around her. Pierson was born to Walter and Polly Stokes on August 22, 1926 in Manhattan and attended the Chapin School. She pursed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Radcliff University and spent her summers in Cooperstown, New York. She met her husband Frank Romer Pierson there in 1945, and married him in 1948. They moved to California in the early ’50s and raised two children, Michael and Eve. She has been a resident of Malibu for more than 50 years.

Pierson was an investor and lover of the arts. She backed many successful Broadway shows such as “The Producers,” “Hairspray,” and the revival of “Guys and Dolls.”

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, cat-lover and a very dear friend to many. Her children wish to thank all of their mother’s friends for the love and concern they have always shown and continue to send their way. Pierson is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife Maggie and children Colin, Emmet and Gracie; and her daughter Eve and her family, Hannah and Ben; as well as her ex-husband Frank and his wife, Helene.
