Actress Pauley Perrette gets up close and personal with a friendly boa at the annual Beastly Ball.

Locals like Holly Robinson Peete always keep a day on their summer calendar for the annual Beastly Ball, and the roaring good time is coming up soon.

The furry- and fun-filled festivities take place on Saturday, June 15 under the stars at the Los Angeles Zoo.

It has been hailed as “one of the best parties in the city,” giving safari-clad party animals the chance to check out the wildlife, get the lowdown from their keepers and graze on some of the area’s fave foods.

The new “Bash Before the Ball” kicks off with an exclusive preparty with Pauley Perrette.

Loyal sponsors will then meet the creatures and learn about their everyday activities.

It’s feedin’ time, so expect to see everyone from eucalyptus-munching cuddly koalas to rodent-loving Komodo dragons.

In addition to animal feedings and encounters, the evening features a live and silent auction, as well as a taste of L.A., from top eateries like Celestino, El Coyote, Federal and Il Fornio, to old time classics like El Cholo and Pink’s Hot Dogs.

Co-chairs include the legendary and longtime supporter Betty White, as well as The Walt Disney Company and the Wasserman Foundation.

Malibu’s rock-and-roller Slash is among the trustees, along with Holly Robinson Peete and Lani Hall Alpert.

Caring and sharing

Animal lovers will also be busy with another wonderful cause on June 15. Malibu’s Erika Brunson will be honored at the Spay Neuter Project Los Angeles at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey.

The Compassion Now Gala honors local and national advocates who have increased and assisted animal protection and animal awareness.

Brunson, the founder of the Coalition for Pets and Public Safety / Spay-4-LA, will receive well-deserved accolades for all her hard work on behalf of saving lives and making the world a better place for our animal friends. Francis Battista, co-Founder of Best Friends Animal Society, and Aimee Gilbreath, executive director of Found Animals, will be honored as well. Megan Blake of Animal Attractions TV will emcee.

SNPLA’s mission is to substantially reduce animal shelter intake by providing high quality, low-cost spay and neuter services to underserved communities in the Los Angeles area. Since 2007, SNPLA has provided more than 80,000 low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, with a projected 26,000 surgeries to be completed annually.

And they’re off

Speaking of all things furry, four-legged and feathered, don’t forget the annual Pepperdine Center for the Arts Guild Gala. This year’s activities will take place on June 8 at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.

So, drive up the coast and support the arts, mingle with the players and ponies, and enjoy an alfresco luncheon under the sun. Tally ho!
