Authorities were contacted by an employee reporting a possible identity theft at Wells Fargo Bank in Malibu late Friday evening, according to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
Around 5:50 p.m., Jeffrey Ranard Taylor attempted to access the account of a customer, using what the bank teller reported as a suspicious California driver’s license.
After reviewing account security questions, the bank teller called the station to report the possible identity thief.
Deputies apprehended the 49-year-old man shortly after the initial call and, after further investigation, determined Taylor had been carrying a false California driver’s license in the name of a Berkeley-area victim, according to the report.
