PCH looking good

The landscaping of the highway median in the Civic Center area was gifted to the city by the Malibu Green Machine almost three years ago. It’s a real pleasure this past week to see the Parks Department refreshing and replanting our project. Dead plants and trash have been removed, overgrown areas have been pruned. The new masses of sea lavender in the pocket areas add a lovely touch of blue and the orange flames of the aloe striata are also in full bloom.

It’s not easy to garden in such a violent and harsh planting area as the Pacific Coast Highway. But the landscaped median is maturing and starting to look happy. For this, we thank Jim Thorsen, city manager, Bob Stallings, Parks and Recreation director and Andrew Belter, park supervisor.

Highway studies show that a landscaped highway can calm and slow traffic. We’re proud that we’ve made a small contribution to a safer PCH.
