The same old group of negative NIMBYs came out in force against the City Council last week. Mazza, who admitted he was a developer when he ran for City Council in the last election and who opposed Safe Routes to School, Movies in the Park and almost anything and everything this council tries to do, wants to get rid of four council members. I guess with four vacancies, he figures even he could get elected next year.
And Bob Purvey, who doesn’t live here and doesn’t vote here but occasionally gets paid by Ozzie Silna’s group to videotape and then edit political hit pieces, blows into town and beats Mazza’s drum. And following up the bandwagon is Efrom Fader, on the board of MTC that gets big donations from, who else, Ozzie Silna.
Fader just can’t get over the fact that buddy Keller (also Silna’s choice) lost the election. I won’t comment on Mari Stanley’s letter because it didn’t make sense.
I admit I don’t agree with this council all the time. But I have to admit they have done a pretty good job. They got Mazza what he wanted, a realignment and light at Zumirez. (I don’t see the need for a light there.) Bob Purvey claims to be a surfer but doesn’t mention the four council members he wants to resign are doing their darndest to get the Chili Cook-Off so they can clean up the pollution of Surfrider Beach. None of them mention that we finally got Bluffs Park. To me, it seems like this council has given these guys what they want and ignored what I want. So why do they want resignations and I don’t?
