Local Water Polo Player Takes Home Gold Medal

Malibu resident Angie Drake, 12, won a gold medal at the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics. The competition took place at Stanford University on August 3. 

Drake, a former Juan Cabrillo student, will enter seventh grade at Malibu Middle School this fall. She plays for the both the Malibu 13-14 Youth Water Polo Team, coached by Hayden Goldberg, and the Santa Barbara 12 Girls Water Polo Team, coached by Chuckie Roth. The Santa Barbara-based team won a gold medal at the Junior Olympics. 

Since her return, Drake has been attending Pepperdine’s annual Youth Water Polo Camp with Terry Schroeder and Merrill Moses.
