More than 200 autistic children had the opportunity to go surfing at the 12th annual Pat Notaro Day at the Beach/Surfers Healing event hosted by Variety, The Children’s Charity, at Surfrider Beach June 2.

Surfers Healing is a nonprofit organization founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz, who operate a surf camp in San Diego. They were inspired to start Surfers Healing after their son, who has autism, found spending time in the ocean was a calming and therapeutic experience.

The event also honors the late Pat Notaro, an avid Malibu surfer, member of Variety and a Sony executive.
